Foudre Ferment Riesling
Wine
Best's Foudre Ferment Riesling's inaugural vintage began with a 2,500 litre French oak foudre unexpectedly arriving at Best's from Burgundy.
The juice is given extended skins contact before wild fermentation at warm temperatures in the large French oak vat. The wine's style has remained largely unchanged since it was first produced in 2012.
The resulting wine retains complexity from its extended skins contact, while the sheer size of the foudre prevents the oak characters from becoming too overt.
Pale straw, Best's Foudre Ferment Riesling has rich citrus flavours, steely acidity and powdery minerality. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
